The Genetic Resource Centre (GRC), located in the Latvian State Forest Research Institute “Silava” (LSFRI Silava), is responsible for coordinating genetic resource management activities in Latvia, including genetic research and monitoring. The GRC is responsible for maintain the Latvian Gene Bank, containing seeds of cultivated species and wild relatives. In addition, the GRC provides genetic expertise and analysis to support research areas in the LSFRI Silava (e.g. wildlife management, ecosystem services, tree breeding, biodiversity monitoring, forest pathology etc.), as well to other agricultural research institutes and universities.
