The Royal Spanish Federation of Livestock Purebred Associations (RFEAGAS), currently represents the 96% of the Spanish purebred livestock animals, through its 115 member Organizations (cattle, sheep, goats, swine, horses and other species), all of them officially recognized by the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA) or the Department of Agriculture of the different Autonomous Communities in which Spain is divided. RFEAGAS also takes an active part in the meetings periodically convened by MAPA, in order to monitor the State of the Livestock Sector in Spain, where RFEAGAS, as an umbrella organization, represents, supports and protects the interests of the Spanish Purebred Livestock Breeders in front of the public bodies. RFEAGAS collaborates with public bodies, universities, research centers, etc. for the conservation, breeding, management and sustainable use of the Spanish Livestock Breeds. RFEAGAS also has an important international role in the Latin American Countries, managing the General Secretariat of the Iberoamerican Federation of the Creole and Autochtonous Breeds (FIRC).
