The Genetic Resources Gateway is a crowd-sourced platform.

Any users can freely browse through a wide range of materials and organisations without signing up. We invite stakeholders from organisations working on genetic resources in Europe and neighboring countries to become editors by signing up to the Back Office and adding relevant materials to be featured on the Gateway.

You can sign up and become an editor by following a few simple steps.

Add organisation and associate with your profile

Add the organisation to the website by writing the full name and selecting the field category. The organisation will be visible both on the public part of the website and in the backend. Create your user profile and associate it with the organisation from which you wish to add content. You can select more than one organisation.

Add content and associate with the organisation

Add your material by filling in the form with the required information, most importantly the specific link. Indicate the organisation that created the content by selecting the previously inserted organisation from the list.

Submit for approval:

Click on ‘submit’ to send your proposed material for approval to the secretariat(s) of the three networks. Please note that there is a delay due to the approval process. After your user profile and the first content are approved, you will be able to add an unlimited number of contents (step 3). Each new content gets approved every time by an administrator to ensure quality control.

Criteria for content approval

The publishers are selected representatives from the three European genetic resources networks (ECPGR, EUFORGEN, ERFP) that overlook the quality and accuracy of the submitted information.

A set of values guides the publishers and administrators in approving/rejecting submissions:

  • relevance of the materials and organisations for the genetic resources conservation and use in in Europe and neighbourhood countries
  • neutrality of language for descriptions
  • (preferably) open access content and data according to FAIR principles, with unique URL that anyone can use, and distribute
  • no duplicates of the content that is already on the Gateway
